DESCRIPTION: The black hole ringdown offers a powerful window into both as
tro- and fundamental physics. However\, the construction of an accurate an
d reliable theoretical template for the interpretation of real data is cru
cial. In this seminar\, I will discuss how ringdown modes respond to some
ditinct physical key-effects. First\, I will talk about the impact of a dy
namical evolution of the black hole mass due to accretion or radiation. Th
en\, I will present a parametrized framework to describe possible deviatio
ns from General Relativity in the ringdown spectrum of spinning black hole
 s. Finally\, I will explore how incomplete ringdown modeling can bias para
meter estimation for massive black hole binaries observed by LISA\, and as
sess the optimal degree of accuracy of the template that is required acros
 s parameter space.
