Seminar

Experimental Particle Physics: from instrumentation and detection to Machine Learning

Inês Ochoa / Rute Pedro

Wednesday, 28th of May, 2025 from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Anfiteatro Abreu Faro

Modern Particle Physics experiments employ cutting-edge particle detection technologies coupled with the latest advancements in data analysis methods to extract insights about the properties of fundamental particles and their interactions. In this seminar, Inês Ochoa and Rute Pedro will showcase the interplay between instrumentation and Machine Learning in the ATLAS experiment at the LHC, unveiling all from detector technology and operations to data taking and analysis. This journey will also explore the landscape of colliders beyond the LHC horizon and discuss the lessons learned towards the design and construction of future experiments.
