Interdisciplinary Physics

All physical phenomena are interconnected, and the theoretical description of one often shares the same mathematical basis as a variety of others. The field of interdisciplinary physics focuses on the behavior of complex systems, both at the microscopic and macroscopic levels. It is a vast area that includes Dynamical Systems, Mathematical Physics, Biophysics, Geophysics, Global Physics, and Energy Physics. Some of the most exciting topics in this area include the nonlinear dynamics of systems; celestial mechanics; complexity theory and chaos; the evolution and dynamics of biological/biophysical systems; the study of geophysical processes such as earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, or the Earth's magnetic field; and the study and development of sustainable energy systems.
