Gonçalo Ribeiro wins the "Young Start-up Competition 2025"

Gonçalo Ribeiro, PhD student at LIP’s Particles4Health group led by Prof. Pedro Assis, has won the Youth Start-Up Competition 2025 with FLASHGuard, a technology enabling the safe clinical use of FLASH Radiotherapy. Presented at the SME Assembly 2025 in Copenhagen, FLASHGuard was chosen as a finalist by the jury and ultimately awarded first place through the audience vote.
The project is developed within Particles4Health under the supervision of Prof. Pedro Assis and Prof. Patrícia Gonçalves, with contributions from team members Prof. Bernardo Tomé, Gonçalo Roriz, Carlota Pataca, Eduarda Cunha, and Francisco Cavaco. The jury highlighted FLASHGuard as an example of European innovation with global impact.
As winner, Gonçalo will present FLASHGuard at the 2026 European Innovation Council Summit in Brussels, gaining major visibility in the European health-tech and innovation ecosystem.
