MOOC Técnico “Transport in Plasmas” with registrations open from 1st September

The Instituto Superior Técnico has launched a new online course on its MOOC Técnico platform, dedicated to the field of Plasma Physics and titled "Transport in Plasmas". This course is aimed at undergraduate, master's, and doctoral students who wish to acquire or deepen specific knowledge in Plasma Physics. Plasma, considered the fourth state of matter, results from the ionisation of a gas that creates an almost neutral medium where charged particles exhibit collective behaviour. The course covers the transport of particles in plasmas through a fluid description, deriving the general equations of the fluid model and applying them to both weakly ionised plasmas, such as those found in the ionosphere or microelectronics laboratories, and fully ionised plasmas, like those found inside stars or in nuclear fusion machines.

This course is the first in a series of MOOCs in the area of "Plasma Physics", developed by the scientific area of Plasma Physics, Lasers, and Nuclear Fusion of the Department of Physics at Técnico. Access to the course is completely free and online, available upon registration, allowing each participant to complete it at their own pace. Those who successfully complete the assessment activities will be able to obtain a certificate, although without a grade. Additionally, the course materials, including videos in Portuguese with subtitles, will remain accessible to registered participants even after the end of the current edition.

The course will start on 9th September 2024 and will end on 8th November 2024.
