Professor Susana Freitas elected Vice-Presidente of the European Magnetism Association (EMA)

Susana Freitas, researcher at INESC MN and professor at the Physics Department in Instituto Superior Tecnico, ULisboa, has been elected Vice-President of the European Magnetism Association (EMA) during the General Council meeting at JEMS 2025. Susana is internationally recognized for her groundbreaking work in spintronics, magnetic biosensors, and advanced nanoelectronics, reflecting the high level of research excellence at INESC MN.
With over 25 years of expertise, INESC Microssistemas e Nanotecnologias (INESC MN) continues to lead in thin-film materials, microelectronics, and magnetic sensor technologies, driving innovation that bridges fundamental science and real-world applications.
For this 3-year mandate, Dennis Meier was also approved as the new President of EMA, as announced by outgoing President Olivier Fruchart. Professor at NTNU, Dennis Meier is internationally recognized for his pioneering research in functional topological systems and novel electronic materials.
The European Magnetism Association (EMA) is an international non-profit organization that represents and supports the magnetism community in Europe (~10.000 people), promoting research, education, and collaboration across academia and industry.
